Welcome to Scourie Lodge: Meet Your New Hosts, Sophie and Stuart Beveridge

We would like to warmly welcome you to Scourie Lodge and introduce ourselves as the new owners of the Lodge. Starting from the 1st of March, we will be your hosts.

But what makes us think we can fill the shoes of the current proprietors? Angus and Elisabeth have lovingly cared for the lodge for the past 8 years, and their attention to detail, from the welcome to the garden, will be a hard act to follow. Rest assured, you are in good hands.

Meet Your Hosts

Sophie has worked in hospitality for the past 15 years. She started as a general assistant (we have to do everything within a hotel) and progressed to General Manager, with a few career breaks for children. Sophie has also spent the last few months being trained in the art of keeping the stunning gardens of Scourie Lodge alive—a much more daunting task than raising four children.

Stuart, originally from Australia, moved to the UK 13 years ago. He has fully immersed himself in Scottish life since moving to the village of Scourie. He is a member of the local fire brigade and highly skilled in deer management. Here's hoping the ladder skills come in handy for painting and roof maintenance. With 10 years of hospitality experience as well as careers in the military, travel, and recently acting, he really is a jack of all trades.

Our Children

Our children, Emelia (9), Alfie (8), Eilidh (6), and James (3), are enthusiastic to join the team but will need a few more years of training. Trust us, you don't want the latest rendition of the Frozen soundtrack at breakfast! You may still get a chance to meet them, as the local primary school uses the woodland behind Scourie Lodge for its weekly woodland school.

What to Expect

So, what can you expect from us? Firstly, a warm welcome. We can't wait to welcome you to the Highlands and, in particular, the village of Scourie—a perfect location for exploring, boat trips, and wildlife. Having lived here for quite a few years, we can offer lots of local knowledge and plenty of beach recommendations.

In our first year, we plan to focus on providing a quality offering done simply. We will offer a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy after a long day traveling or a full day exploring, with a hot drink and a treat.

Follow us along in our journey; I'm sure there will be plenty of entertainment along the way...
